Sanibel Island, located in western Lee County along the Gulf of Mexico, is an island with a total area of 33.26 square miles just a short drive from Fort Myers.  Sanibel is famous for breathtaking sunsets, the Sanibel Lighthouse, endless shelling opportunities, fresh seafood, fishing, boating, and luxurious resorts.  With a population of just 6,382 at the 2020 census, the quaint and secluded island allows visitors the opportunity to indulge in rest and relaxation.

 

Captiva Island, located just north of Sanibel Island, is an island with a total area of 1.7 square miles and a population of just 318 at the 2020 census.  Captiva is famous for pristine white beaches that are surrounded by lush tropical landscaping making it the perfect low-key setting to relax and unwind.  Half of the island is in private ownership, including "Millionaire's Row" which boasts fine luxury homes on the Gulf and bay sides of Captiva Drive.
